During hospice medical aid in dying patients, hospice professionals can help manage pain and other symptoms associated with terminal illnesses and provide hospice families with emotional support.
Who Qualifies For The Hospice Medical Care?
- Individuals 18 years old or older living in California.
- Diagnosed with a terminal illness by their primary physician.
- Be capable of making medical decisions for themselves as determined by health professionals.
- Voluntarily request the prescription without being influenced by others.
- Individuals must be qualified to make medical decisions themselves (defined by a physician).
- Individuals must be capable of self-administer the medication.
What is hospice medical care at home?
Hospice medical care brings comfort and quality of life to people nearing the end of their lives by providing palliative and end-of-life health care in the patient’s home.
The goal of hospice is to keep the patient comfortable and provide support for both the patient and the family during this difficult time.
